Board-wide Pink Shirts now On Sale

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Each year, the Durham Catholic District School Board celebrates National Pink Shirt Day as part of our Stand Up to Bullying activities during the last week of February. On February 27, 2019 every member of our Board is encouraged to wear something pink to show that we are all working together to prevent bullying in our schools, in our communities and online. Pink Shirt Day began in 2009 in Nova Scotia when two high school students decided to take a stand against bullying in their own school by wearing pink shirts in support of a student who was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school.

This year, the Durham Catholic District School Board asked students across the Board to submit designs for our Board-wide pink shirt. The slogan and graphic had to focus on a positive action that is supportive of bullying prevention. There were many fantastic entries. The winning design was designed by a Grade 5 student at St. Theresa Catholic School in Whitby.

If you would like to order one of our Board pink t-shirts, please go to the following website https://phoenix.gearware.com/Shop/Associations.aspx. All orders must be submitted by January 23, 2019. The short turnaround time is needed in order to ensure that we have the shirts delivered to all our schools before February 27. This is not a fundraising opportunity (the shirt is being provided to us at cost - $13.25 each, tax included).
